VARIATIONS

Variations in the rug washing method are determined by the type and condition of the rug.

A technician may manually clean the rug, using gentle agitation/brushing and addressing each yarn individually. We utilize a rug washing machine/vacuum to carefully regulate the water amount and the cleaning soap solution. Our environmentally friendly soap solution and clean water effectively remove dirt from rugs without leaving residue.

Experienced professionals perform precise and skilled hand washing on delicate, aged, or sensitive rugs to thoroughly remove all dirt. The dry cleaning process is employed for sensitive rugs, especially silk.

Experienced professionals oversee and perform the method and process to ensure your rug is returned in better condition than when received.

Stain and Odor Removal (if necessary)

During or right after the cleaning process we will examine any stains or odor. Depending upon the type of rug and substance of the stain/odor, our highly experienced staff will choose an appropriate method to best address the issue. The Natalia Rugs technicians have seen just about everything and are able to recommend the best course of action during pre-inspection.

  • Drying Process

    Drying Process

After the washing, if the weather permits, rugs will be dried out in sunlight. This allows for thorough drying as well as eliminating any residual odor or bacteria. Careful monitoring is done ensure rugs are not left too long to affect the dye. Natalia Rugs also uses indoor drying with large fans and temperature-controlled heating when necessary.

  • Grooming & Final inspection

    Grooming & Final inspection

Once your rug is dry, it’s taken to our service floor for a grooming and final inspection. We block your rug so it retains its shape, brush the nap, and give it a thorough vacuum. We also trim the fringe to give it a clean, uniform look. If any repair is needed, the rug is sent to our repair department. Otherwise, it’s rolled up and ready for pick-up or delivery.

Our rug restoration services include a wide range of rugs we can restore, from new to antique rugs. With our team of skilled rug repair specialists, we can restore a wide range of rugs using specialized weave techniques specific to the type of rug. French Aubusson from France, for example, requires a unique weave technique for restoration.
